où venait l'élite de son temps. Parmi ses nombreux amants,
elle eut Alexandre Dumas fils et Franz Liszt. Elle mourut jeune de la
tuberculose. On dit qu'une grande foule suivit son cercueil lors de son
enterrement. Dumas s'inspira de sa liaison avec elle pour écrire
la Dame aux camélias. Verdi s'empara du personnage pour
en faire la Violetta Valery de son opéra la Traviatta.
